Smith Buildings - 1943

These buildings started as the Frank Smith Store in 1920 and continued until it closed in August, 1940.  They were then leased by the National Lead Company and Scullen Construction for use as offices and warehouses during the construction of the new railroad to Tahawus.  They were purchased in 1945 by Harry Ginsberg and called the North Creek Lumber Company.
By 1958, only the tall central building and the building on the left in this photo were left and by 1964, all the buildings were gone and replaced by one of the lumber storage sheds we can see there today.
