Morse Park Inc. Siding near Saratoga Springs This siding was built in 1917 at A39.78, just south of the crossing with Daniels Road in the Town of Greenfield. It was a total of 371 feet long and ended just before a now abandoned road. It was built for Morse Park Inc. (also shown as Morris Park on a 1925 map). It was out of service by 1920 and removed in March of 1925. This area was once known as Woodlawn Park which had large lots for sale for wealthy people who built homes in the area. In 1917, Charles Morse purchased this area through his real estate company Morse Park, Inc. He had this siding added for a sawmill which cut up all the lumber removed from the property. He sold the sawmill and wood to a Thomas Luther in December of 1918 and they probably finished their work in 1919. I searched the area in April of 2014 and found only a slight trace of a built up roadbed which was very hard to follow due to the dense undergrowth. I found no trace of any building foundation and the whole area is a low-lying elevation with wet ground so not very ideal for an industry. My guess is that they loaded their product from next to the road where the siding ends. Below is a photo near where the siding leaves the mainline.
