Adirondack Railway Office & Station - 117 Grand Avenue

  The Adirondack Company bought this Greek Revival house in 1865 for use as their office and passenger depot.  It was built c.1845. This photo dates to c.1870.  A map from 1884 shows that the front of the house was used for the office and the back was used for waiting rooms and a passenger depot.

 In 1887, they either renovated the building in a more modern style or completely rebuilt it as the one we can see today.  The style matches the house that T.C. Durant owned in North Creek.  Probably in 1889, when the D&H bought the company, they started using the D&H station for passengers and used this for just an office.
  The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation restored the building and in 2007, sold it to 117 Grand Ave. LLC.   One interesting fact is that the Delaware & Hudson sold the building in 1960 to a John Durant.  He owned the house until selling it to the SSPA in 1992.
